Kwara South AA Disciples Backs Hon. Oshatimehin’s Appointment

•Urges Assembly to confirm her appointment

•Lampoons detractors over “Pull Her Down” syndrome

•Says criticism is an affront to the Governor

A socio-political group in Kwara State, Kwara South AA Disciples has joined other interest groups and personalities to back the appointment of Hon. Afolabi Harriet Oshatimehin, the commissioner-nominee from Ifelodun local government, passing a vote of confidence in her leadership and capability.

The group urged the Kwara State Assembly under the highly revered Speaker, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu to confirm her appointment, and refuse to be dragged into unnecessary and unhealthy political rivalry, pettiness and “Pull Her Down” syndrome.

The group which is loyal to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq lampooned detractors of Oshatimehin and their sponsors, stressing that their harsh criticism of her appointment is an affront to His Excellency who has resolved on her choice in the first place.

“We have noted with concern the pettiness, unhealthy and unnecessary political rivalry and bitterness that have trailed the appointment of Hon. Afolabi Harriet Oshatimehin as commissioner-nominee by His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. We posit that the criticisms are not a product of positivity, but rather bile taken too far. How does the misfortune of Hon. Oshatimehin which these elements are seeking translate to their fortune? If these fellows don’t know, we must tell them that their actions represent a grave affront to His Excellency the Governor who resolved on appointing Hon. Oshatimehin. We demand unreserved apology from them for such lack of manners and insensitivity.

“As Disciples of Gov AA, we declare that His Excellency has made a wise pick and we support it with no reservation. That’s our understanding of loyalty and respect to our principal, not raising eyebrows to his decision. Appointments are still much; any group that doesn’t benefit from the commissionership can benefit from another. What we are yet to understand is how the fall of Hon. Oshatimehin translate to their success?

“We urge the hallowed Kwara State chamber not to be dragged into the unhealthy rivalry instigated by some people who are bent on settling personal scores. It is glad that the trump up allegations levelled against Hon. Oshatimehin are falling flat in the face of the orchestrators. Our royal father, the Olupako of Share has denied claims that he was ever disrespected by Harriet, among other lies peddled to ‘call a dog a bad name to make its hanging easier’.

“On a final note, we demand unreserved apology from these elements for their affront to our principal the Governor. We also caution them to learn civility in their future interventions and not stand the truth on its head just to settle personal scores. It's up to the Assembly to demonstrate the professionalism, sincerity it has been known for. The interest of a few will never supercede public interest.”

Signed:
Comrade Dare Fadipe
Convener, Kwara South AA Disciples
