Atunto Foundation Initiative Gift shelters to inmates In Ilorin Correctional Centre

Yesterday, Atunto Foundation Initiative had a visitation to 2 correctional centres in Ilorin, Kwara state.

On the 25th of June, we had our Clothe Drive, in which the foundation was able to gather useful clothes for the inmates.  

A visit was made to Mandela Correctional Center and oke- Kura Correctional Centre.

The male clothes which consist of 43 trousers, 38 tops and 12 sets of Up and down, and 26 sachet detergents were donated to Mandala Correction Centre. 

Also, female wear consisting of 21 head ties (hijab &scarf), 19 gowns, 42 tops, skirts and trousers, and 8 complete sets of skirts and blouses, 24 sachets of detergent were donated to Oke-Kura Correctional Centre.

 

The unfit clothes were burnt as deemed fit.

 

The Foundation was represented by Ms Barakat Adejumo, Mr Uthman Suleiman, Mrs Idayat Oloyede and Mr Bello Ibrahim. 

During the visit, the inmates at Oke-Kura advertised their hand-weaved baskets, which the foundation appreciated by patronizing them by buying two of these baskets.

Undoubtedly, vocational skill is one of the things we should encourage for the inmate as they can be empowered and feel a sense of belonging to society and not just be an Ex-Convict.  

We care about the welfare of these inmates, they should feel that as well.

The inmates appreciates the clothes and sent their prayers to all sponsors and donors.
