Army repels Boko Haram attack on Convoy of Operation Lafiya Dole
The Nigerian Army said it has repelled an attack by Boko Haram insurgents on the convoy of the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Major General Olusegun Adeniyi.The incident occurred when Major General Adeniyi was on his way back to Maiduguri after a visit to troops recently deployed to Jakana to strengthen security in the area.
Insurgents bombarded the soldiers with heavy fire but they were able to subdue them and continue their trip, returning safely to the headquarters of the command.
Two soldiers were wounded and are receiving treatment at a military medical facility and responding positively.
The vehicle of the theatre commandant was also badly damaged during the encounter.
