Kwara in safe hands, ripe for growth - Says Commissioner

Kwara as one of the ancient states in Nigeria has, hitherto,  been denied her deserving growth and reputation because of the misplacement of priorities, self-aggrandizement and bad governance, Alhaji Olarewaju Muritala, State Commissioner for Communications has said.

The Commissioner disclosed this while fielding questions from reporters in his office. He expressed his concern about the low level of development recorded in the past and how what on ground are not commensurable with the huge financial resources they had sunk into those projects.

He said, the coming on board of Governor AbdulRazaq means blessings for all and sundry, considering the government's breakthrough performance, which are conspicuous in many sectors with particular reference to the health, education and water.

Olarewaju, while affirming the consistency of present administration on the motive of implementing a meaningful change in all facets, said that evidence abounds to substantiate a claim that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has laid a solid foundation for rapidity of an advanced kwara and a fulfilled citizenry in few years to come.

He acknowledged that the resuscitation of at least 11 moribund water tanks by this government, 17 years after they were built by the late Governor Muhammed Lawal, is one lovely gesture of government and a talking point at the moment. He explained that these concrete water reservoirs, in addition with those eight water works the AbdulRazaq's administration had earlier rehabilitated, will further improve the citizens' access to  potable water.

Olarewaju also cited the serial discoveries of loots by the anti-grant agency - a strange happening in history of the state - as another achievement of not only the Efcc but also the state government, that, according to him, created enabling ground to expose the criminality. He added that the Governor's respect for rule of law and his stance against misappropriation of public funds motivated the support the agency has been enjoying from leadership class to efficiently fight corrupt practices in the State.

The Commissioner also pointed out how the present government has heightened spirit in the sport sector with the hosting of kwara sport festival, where athletes, in their thousands, participated in one game or the other, saying that has helped in discovering hidden talents among the participants.

He noted that the gains from a developed sport is overwhelmingly to, among others, enhance recreation, daunt youths' restiveness and unify all interests that are capable of quickening the development of a given society.
