FG Covid-19 Support to State Government; Kwara State Govt gives Illumination

The Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye recently gave illumination about the N1billion Federal Government COVID-19 support to the State Government.

In his statement, he affirmed that the State got N100million for the Regional Disease Surveillance Systems Enhancement (REDISSE), an initiative from the World Bank which was disbursed through the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC).

Further, he said the revised 2020 budget has made provision for renovation/equipping of health facilities, of which N1billion has been set aside to execute the task. The N1billion is from the federal government, and it is to support States for the COVID-19 fight.

More, he made the public understand that other States have gotten their disbursement, and Kwara State isn’t exempted. Kwara States’s N1billion has been planned to birth a sophisticated public eye care service which will be more superior to that which is already obtainable only in Kaduna State. Kwara is determined to set a bench mark, thereby attracting traffic/patronage from the North and Southwest (Ekiti/Osun especially).

Also, new Dental Chairs and other sophisticated machines will be acquired to make the State another hub for dental care in the North. Building of molecular lab, purchase of renal dialysis machines, advanced MRI/CT Scan/X-ray machines, fixing/equipping of major general hospitals in Omu Aran, Lafiagi, Okuta, Offa, GHI, Sobi Specialist, Centre Igboro Children Hospital, and a few others. All these moves are geared towards enhancing citizenry health care processes, detection, and treatment.

More importantly, the CPS cleared the air about the circulating rumour as regard another N1.1billion gotten by the Kwara State government from the World Bank. He said “As for getting another N1.1billion from World Bank, the Kwara State Government is yet to get any such money from the World Bank, please. What we got was the N100million for REDISSE which we had since announced and the purpose (training) for which the money was meant is already being coordinated by the World Bank/NCDC team”.
