Group Raises Alarm Over Worsening Security Challenges In Kwara South

A renown and well vibrant Youthful Organization in Kwara South, known as Kwara South Youth Development Organization (KWAYORG) has raised alarm over the worsening security challenges facing it's region, for the time over past.

KWAYORG in a press release by its New Media Director, SAEED TIJJANI co- jointly signed by the President of the association, Barrister Titilope Akogun, expresses their inmost distress and trepidation at the expand of instability in their district(Kwara South) as it associates to agriculturists. 

We have discovered over time, that the administration have always cast aside our district to its security concerns willy-nilly, a statement made available to 9japarrot by the group said.

This is dreadful and alarming!

The Youthful Group also explained it concerns over the security threats in the country, it says it has kept track of growth of actions by the Fulani heardsmen operating from some part of the country to their own district.

Before now, our Farmers were not receiving the necessary nod to farm, if their farm proceeds would eventually be preyed upon by the herders uncontrolled.

It appears to our people the Government isn't putting any security apparatus in place to checkmate the herders, the group laments.

We can see states like Ondo and Ekiti doing so much, putting regulations in place to checkmate the activities of herders.

They go further by giving examples of places where there has been influx of Herders;  Ekiti, Buari (even with upto 6 trailers), Omu Aran, Aran Orin, etc. The group said.

These acts should be discouraged, for it not to degenerate to a situation whereby they would not be controllable, and farmers would have to take laws into their hands, especially when the activities of the herders can not be monitored, the statement reads.

We urge the State Government to kindly take pro - active steps to check mate this and not wait until we have casualties again.

Below are our possible suggestions in handling these critical situations;

1. Profiling every Fulani resident and their families in every community of the state through their leaders;

2. Signing a security bond with their leaders to be law abiding;

3. Placing a Ban of Night cattle herding;

4. Having ID cards to identify those who are invaders;

5. Ensure that all their activities are being monitored by security agents timeously;

6. Setting up panels or committees that would be assigned to assess the security situations in the aforementioned places.

7. A detailed Security intelligence reports should be carried out at all times.

We are very confident if the above recommendations are properly adhere to, we would be one step ahead of the menaces. The statement concludes
