Hijab Saga: IEYDA Sues For Peace, Tolerance, Lauds Kwara Govt On Proactive Measures

The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) has condemned the Hijab Crises in Schools in Kwara State; describing it as unfortunate.

A statement jointly signed by the National President of the association, Alh. Abdullahi Babatunde Salaudeen and the National Publicity Secretary, Alh. Mohammed Uthman Jagunma expresses disappointment with the turn of things amongst the two Religion’s Faithfuls in the State, most especially on the current Hijab Crises in some schools in the State. It reiterated that Kwara State is a State of Harmony, which stands out for the way Muslims and Christians have being cohabiting peacefully for years. It stated that whomever that is fueling the Hijab crises in schools in the state wants a Religious crises and doesn’t mean well for Kwarans.

The statement commended the Kwara State Government under the able leadership of Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for taking proactive measures by summoning a stakeholder’s meeting, setting up of committee and immediate closure of affected schools in the state. It however called on the Government to take extraordinary steps at finding a lasting solution, to avoid a reoccurrence of this ugly incident in the nearest future.

IEYDA called on both Muslim and Christian leaders in the state to play key and peaceful roles in putting the matter to rest once and for all.

It stated that the Peaceful coexistence in the state is Nonnegotiable, and the Youths would slug it out with anyone who tries to sow seeds of discords or fuel religions crises in the state.
