REPORT: Sorry State of Kwara School Where Pupils Learn In Dilapidated Classrooms

Pategi is a name of a very popular town and Local Government Area in the Northern part of Kwara State.

It was a very sad and disheartening situation yesterday, seeing the kind of environment the pupils of Gboke LGEA Primary School in Pategi sat to take their various classes. This was the eyesore witnessed by a group known as Goals Aimers Initiative revealed shortly after their visitation for an outreach.

According to the reports made available to 9japarrot by the group, no fewer than 5 different building structures (classrooms) of the Gboke LGEA Primary School are totally collapsed and dilapidated. This means the school and the pupils have no building to call classroom in the real sense of the word, talk less of a conducive environment to receive their various classes. This building are just too unkempt, unhealthy and not fit for learning. It's indeed a sorry state for the pupils of Gboke LGEA Primary School.

By mere looking at the collapsed buildings, you don't have any choice to believe that they are seriously begging for quick Government's intervention, for it not to lead to calamities. It's indeed worrisome to learn that the building has been in that ugly state since May 26th, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Headmaster of the school, Comrade Yusuf Jimoh explained that the causes of the collapsed classrooms was due to windstorm which occured around May 26th, 2020, which he noted as the major challenge.

Comrade Yusuf said he has communicated with the Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on the happenings, and he believes there are plans underway to get things worked out in ensuring the rebuilding and repairs of the collapsed classrooms.

Comrade Yusuf also appealed to philanthropists to please come to their aid. 

“Our pupils are standing and sitting under the sun to learn, which is not healthy,” he said.

“This windstorm incident happened since last year, and it's already 8 months now since then. Eight Months is enough to have rebuilt the collapsed classrooms,” says the group. 

They therefore appealed to the Government to please come to the aid of the community without any further delay.
