Kwara Ex-LG Lawmakers Appeals To Gov Abdulrazaq To Look Into Their Requests

Recall that the kwara state government dissolved the State's Council across all the Local Government of the state in 2019 upon an allegation of misappropriation of public fund which till date leaves the State's council empty without occupant and functions.

Some members of the dissolved Councilors who were loyal to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq amidst all hurdles have appealed to the Governor to remember them in his administration. 

It was gathered through Hon. Mohammed AbdulRahman Aduagba from Zango ward, Ilorin East LG who is one of the dissolved Councilors that in 2017 when he alongside his colleagues who were in PDP became a political challenge to the immediate past Senate president of Nigeria, Senator Bukola Saraki who was then in APC. Hon. Mohammed narrated that there were Eight members of the PDP then who scaled through all political threats and anomalies to defeat the saraki-supported candidates.

"We contested and won despite no strong support from any political bigwigs and since then we were percieved to have some political substances which attracted a lot of people to us seeking for us to join them and their party but we stood our ground and rejected all offer to betray the trust of the public on us. It is upon this basis of our victory and stance that open the public to the fact that Saraki can be defeated even without any big political support.", Hon. Mohammed narrated. 

In the narrator's statement, he further claimed that the hurdles and challenges at the floor of the council as minority and the struggle to diligent carry out their functions amidst social responsibility to their society almost consumed them. Their personal finances were used most times to carry out public responsibility of the council but still they never budge an inch even though it almost lead them to penury.

"Although these challenges were communicated to our party leaders then; the marginalization and extreme political segregation  and every time they advised that we remain calm and that we are the first to become a political challenge to a bigwig and that our time to live in ease was near.", Hon. Mohammed lamented.

The councilor mentioned that the defection from one party to another which occured in 2018 was what brought many political parties and leaders to be interested in them. He admitted also that that was the time when Senator Bukola Saraki decamped APC to join PDP . He said many people came to meet them to buy them over while some wanted them to wait in the party with the Senator Bukola but all attempts were abortive as they remained committed to their choices. Many attempts to buy us over were thrown at us, finance, political positions, recognition, material things among others, the councilor confirmed. 

In his statement one of them whose name is recognized as Hon. Bamidele Tosin Ayo from Odo Owa Ward 2 Kajola in Oke Ero LG was enticed by the material things and chose to join Saraki and others while the remaining seven Councilors left the party for them and joined the APC party and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He further explained that their defection into APC brought hope to the party the more crediting their strength as the only opposition who defeated the candidates of the political bigwigs in kwara state. This allowed many people to join their party while numerous numbers of people who have lost hope before started picking up again upon our arrival to the party then.

"During the APC Primaries then, we coupled with numbers of others in agreement in our choices conducted, voted and supported the Abdulrahman administration and God willing they emerged. Hence with this, having seen that the administration we supported firmly and stainlessly emerged, we have hope in the ease and betterment as replacement of the hurdles we have been through and we were able to persuade many who were willing to defect the party again then. And even then we worked and were able to convince about eleven PDP members who were under the aegis of Saraki to join the Governor's Camp." 

"Our belief was that the emergence of the AbdulRahman's administration would bring hope to the party loyalist and public concerned people who worked with and for him and others in the party. However after their emergence, we were forgotten and at first we thought we have been forgotten but still we do not let our hope down and still chose to continue believing in this Administration. People closer to us and the Governor claimed we may be considered for council members, commissioners or some other vital appointment owing to our dedication to build the people and the party and most importantly our support for the Governor but everything all time just remains what it is "Dream""

In Hon. Mohammed's conclusion was that the remaining seven dissolved Councilors who were and are still loyal to the governor appeal to the Governor to remember them in his activities and administration as their hopes and beliefs for his benevolence and reward for loyalty is still anew.
