[OPINION] Insecurity In Nigeria: No Body Is Safe

By :Soliu Arowolo Adam

As day keeps on growing to night, insecurity in Nigeria keep worsening. Violence and Crisis gradually gnawing the peace in our land. Insecurity has spread its wings from North to West, Score of dead lives are being recorded on a daily basis. As a patriotic Nigerians, this is not the time to keep silence and sighing. But the time to rise  out our voice. Because, no one is safe. And the government is treating the matter with kid gloves.

Kidnapping and Bandits attacks in the South west of Nigeria  for sometime now, has been the dominating headlines of our national dailies. Populace of  Sokoto, Zamfara, Kaduna, Katsina had suffered most from this atrocities. Kidnappers are making fortune from hard-earned money of the  people living in this region, as a result of the whopping ransomed extort from their family members. And failure  to meet the wish of the kidnappers is tantamount to surrendering the life of their love one’s to the bandits.

Likewise, these bandits attack people living in the rural areas freely, as if the security guard meant to protect them are sleeping. They massacre and slaughter people at their wills, without the fear of being arrested. They also raid their properties, burn their farms and seize the source of their incomes.  Many people have been made homeless as a result of cruel acts of the Bandits group. Of recently, the lives of more than fifty people was lose in the hands of these bandits in Zamfara. On the other hand, hundred were rendered homeless in Geidem local government of Yobe State.

On another note, the outlawed Indegenous people of Biafra ( IPOB) who are as determined as ever to secure the independence of the Republic of biafra is also the main cause of uproar in the southern region. The recent attack on the correctional facility in owerri, where over 1800 inmates were freed was believed to be done by the outlawed IPOB. Though in order to cover them, some Media outlets referred them as UNKNOWN GUNMEN.

In the Western region, ethnical bigotry has been the major problem. Popularly between the Fulani herdsmen and the  Yoruba. Also the agitation for Oduduwa nation which is lead by a self-acclaimed activist, Sunday Igboho has indirectly caused restlessness amongst the people living in the region.

In addition, news has it that the notorious terrorist group in Nigeria; Boko Haram are making efforts to expand their territory from the North East of Nigeria to the North Central. The governor of Niger state, Abubakar Bello cried for help, when he declared that Boko haram has infilitrated the state.  It was also reported that the terrorist group hoisted flag is visible from Kaure  in Shiroro Local government area of Niger state. Knowing how dangerous and deadly the terrorist group had proven in the North East region. The news has sparked restlessness in the hearts of many poor Nigerians, including the Abuja-based millionaires. Because the terrorist group has killed thousands of innocent citizens, damaged millions of properties and also made many Nigerians homeless. As people traveling by roads from the West to North will have to pass through the state. It’s therefore of uttermost importance for the central government to put in all their efforts to get rid of the deadly terrorist group from the North central region before they will dominate the region as they did in North East.

Governments from local to the federal level should put in all their efforts to get rid of the evil doers in our motherland. Even if they have to seek help from the international agency. And every patriotic Nigeria should put our dear motherland in prayer for peace and harmony to be restored among us.
