Unilorin VC Congratulates, BBYDI Boss, Olasupo On UNGASS Nomination

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Age AbdulKareem, has felicitated with a distinguished alumnus of the institution, Mr Abideen Olasupo, on his selection as the representative of Nigeria in the forthcoming virtual Youth Forum of the United Nations Special Session of the General Assembly (UNGASS).

The Vice-Chancellor, in a statement signed by the institution's Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr Kunle Akogun, described the selection of Mr Olasupo as a positive development in the annals of the University.

The session, which holds between Monday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 26, 2021, will see the 2017 graduate of the University of Ilorin interacting with colleagues from the United States, Mexico, Philippines, United Kingdom, Lebanon, Kenya, Ghana, France, India, Cameroon, Barbados, Colombia, Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

Prof. AbdulKareem described Mr Olasupo, who graduated from the Department of Chemistry in 2017, as a pride to the University, adding that "the University is very elated with what the youth activist has been doing for himself, the nation and humanity since he was discharged to the real world by the University".

He added that the University has been following the exciting career of Mr Olasupo, who is the Executive Director of Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI), which has won him so many local and international awards and therefore not surprised with the latest honour coming his way.

The Chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) encouraged Mr Olasupo "to continue to do the best he could in remaining a shining and worthy patriot and a great ambassador of the best tradition of the University and that the institution expected him to be unrelenting in the provision of qualitative mentorship to the younger ones for the nation to produce more of his like.
