Kidstech Africa Host Webinar With Top Airbnb Official

 



The Kidstech Africa team held a webinar with Tech Lead Airbnb; Vinay Gaba. 

Vinay, who is also a Google development expert spoke extensively on the webinar theme - Preparing Gen Z for the future of technology.

The speaker while sharing his journey to success in the tech world said he enjoyed writing codes back then in his home city of Mumbai, India, and first experimented with coding in building games. 

"The most defining moment was when I created an App. The app (a game) was uploaded on the store and got downloaded by 66 people." At this moment, I realised, there is an opportunity in this and it propelled me to explore more" - he said.

KidsTech Africa lead consultant Mojoyin Adewuyi shared insights on how parents can better encourage their kids to get their footings in technology. Saying it's one of the best things that can ever happen to kids. She also spoke about how parents can offer guidance for their kids in staying safe on the internet.  She urged parents to see technology as an important tool for the future of kids and talked about how she has always encouraged her kids to be involved in coding.   

Also, Mr. Jimmy Idiagbon; a Member of the Kidstech Advisory Board shed more light on the opportunities that can be explored in technology and spoke on the importance of blockchain technology.  He also encouraged parents to utilize coding opportunities and also looks at the advantages of coding to help prepare the kids for the future. 

Among the participants is Prof. Popoola, a lecturer at Imperial College London who talked about the importance of coding and how he has always encouraged his kids to do more in coding. He then went further to advise all parents to key their children into Coding and technology at large.

Ibrahim Olawuyi, a student at KidsTech Africa shared his journey since he started coding in 2020 with KidsTech Africa. Telling the audience how he worked on a computer based testing application as well as a telemedicine app he is currently developing.  

Tomilola (12), also a student who enrolled for the python course at KidsTech talked about how she likes playing games on her parents' phones and how she went ahead to develop a game (Tic Tac Toe) using python programming.  

Rising Jimi, a 9 year old kid became an instant sensation at the webinar when the host, Ishola Kayode probed him when he began sharing his exploits in block chain technology and use cases of cryptocurrency. 

Some of his projects include 2 different mobile Games he built using Unity framework currently in the Beta testing stage and a Blockchain technology system whhopeshe hope to unveil soon.

There were other contributions from parents who asked questions and made comments about the importance of technology especially for 'GenZers' who are native to technology. Participants expressed their delight and commended the KidsTech Africa team for bringing accomplished personalities on the webinar series in a bid to motivate kids and encourage parents in getting their kids involved in technology.

The event also witnessed the unveiling of kidsTech Africa unveiled the advisory board members who will work actively with the KidsTech team in achieving its vision.
