KYC Calls On Young Kwarans To Form Solidarity Platforms For Social Development

The convener of Kwara Youth Circle, Mahmood Abdullahi Loke had called on charismatic, influential and selfless Kwara youths to form all-encompassing platforms which he reffered to as circuits. This circuits geared towards solving issues in our society ranging from security, law and order, health and wellbeing, education, economy, policy and governance. He pointed out that this was the resolutions of kwara youths as contained in the communiqué and recommendation that followed the Youth summit convened on 2nd of November 2020.

Speaking at a press conference to present the scorecard of circuits formed and the plans for 2021 edition of the summit. He recalled that it was resolved that henceforth Kwara youths would shun their differences and forge platforms to actively solve societal problems so that their generation would evolve a singular developmental plan in all sector of the polity and that way they  would put Kwara on the path to being the focus state for other states of the federation.

Circuits that presented scorecards were Economy circuits and Education circuits. The economy circuit recounted how much they have invested in human capital development especially in the area of ICT and upskilling the youths’ Digital skills. They also gave their next couple of actionable plans they hope to have implemented before the next summit.

The Acting coordinator of the Education circuit, Mr. Sanni Sheu-Ahmad also recounted all they have achieved thus far and their next point of action. He revealed that they are all contained in a policy draft which centres around Citizen Led Educational Intervention Schemes. He urged members of the public to embrace any of these scheme that they are approached with. He said these schemes necessitate heavy participation of everyone to succeed. “ Education can no longer be left to the government, education authorities and school owners. Unless we want to limit education to schooling” he opined.

The schemes he explained further would focus on the core of education including: Teaching, Training, Assesment, Funding and Administration.

Comrade Loke finally called  on Kwara youths to forge similar circuits that would focus on security, health/ wellbeing, the environment, policy and governance, law and order.  He said the next edition of youth summit is planned to be about presenting what everyone of us had done as persons or as group between then and now and we would proffer more solutions that would be implemented afterwards and we would not dwell on complaints or analyzing issues alone.
