The community leaders and people of Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State have promised to reciprocate the various good gestures of the Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe to their communities when it is time, lauding his style of purposeful Leadership and representation.

The stakeholders from the local government area pledged their unwavering supports to the lawmaker today, during the 'Thank-you' visit to his Ilorin residence, in appreciation of the reality of the newly established Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Budo-egba, and the appointment of Prof. Baba Issa Awoye, an indigene of Ogbondoroko, a village in Asa LGA as the pioneer Acting Medical Director and Provost of the establishment.

While expressing their joy and deep gratitude for the uncommon love, attention and unprecedented developments which the lawmaker's representation had brought to Asa Local Government Areas in less than three years in office, they assured him of their irrevocable resolve to reciprocate his gestures with unanimous support at the propitious time to bring his desire to reality.

The stakeholders also took turns to express delight over the choice of their son, Prof. Baba Issa as the pioneer Medical Director and provost of the hospital, reiterating their confidence in his capacity to ensure the facility is positioned to provide quality healthcare services to people.

Speaking on behalf of the Budo-Egba community, Alh. Yinusa Bello Oniboki, said they were impressed with the democratic disposition of the lawmaker whom he said kept them abreast from the conception of the initiative till the very moment of its realization.

"You did not only show us to the global map with this project but you also carried us along from the inception till the due date. You always demonstrate genuine love and attention to our needs without any trace of condescension. Those of us who were present at the public hearing of the bill at the National Assembly can testify to your intelligence, vibrancy and resourcefulness."

Expressing their exceeding happiness and gratitude to the senator, the TIC Chairman of Asa Local Government Area, Alh Abdulganiyu Saadu described the project as an unprecedented and historic feat never recorded in their local government by any lawmaker in the past, thanking God for making a right choice in Oloriegbe, whilst assuring him of their unceasing loyalty.

"We shall never be ungrateful. Asa people shall forever remain indebted to you for all you have been doing for us”, he said, adding that, “what we can humbly offer in return for your love and kindness is our 100 per cent loyalty and total support, in addition to our fervent prayers to Almighty God to continue His blessings and protection on you throughout your life”.

The APC chairman in Asa Local Government, Alh. Sheu Yahaya in his remark salutes the Senator's wisdom,  doggedness, and fairness in handling the affairs of the people he is representing also re-echoing their unswerving resolve to support him when the time comes.

In his response, the Senator expressed surprise by the honour of the visit which he said he never expected, saying that, he only did what he was elected to do and that which he felt obliged to put in place.

He expressed appreciation for the visit and informed the gathering to be equally grateful to the executive governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, and Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari whom he said played invaluable roles in bringing the facility to life whilst cautioned against burdening the Medical Director, Prof. Baba Issa, with untoward demands, to allow him to perform diligently and place the hospital on an enviable height.

Speaking at the gathering, the newly appointed acting Medical Director, Prof. Baba Issa, explained the importance of the project which he described as greatly beneficial and drew attention to the services obtained from other centres across the nation.

Prof Issa averred that the facility is not only designated for delivering healthcare services but also to offer courses such as psychiatric nursing, occupational therapy and many more which thus, account for his being a provost.

Explaining the scope of psychiatric services, Baba Issa, a mental health expert, explained that psychiatric hospitals are not solely designed for lunacy treatment as being erroneously portrayed by some people, saying that its services extend to treating several disorders that affect thinking, moods, wellbeing and many more,  which culminate in negative changes in behaviour.
