KWASU VC Seeks Bank's Support On Digital Economy Training, Green Initiative




The Vice Chancellor, Kwara State University (KWASU), Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi has reiterated the institution's commitment to the effective deployment of digital technologies for teaching and learning in order to prepare students for the future.

He stated this while receiving a three-man delegation from the United Bank for Africa (UBA), in his office at the KWASU Business School, Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, recently.
To this end, Prof. Akanbi said that processes have been set in motion for training in digital economy and emerging technologies at the University.

The Vice Chancellor added that the institution has established Centre for Digital Economy (CDE) in partnership with  the Ilorin Innovation Hub  and backed by the National Information Technology Development (NITDA), to train people on Digital Economy.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) expressed hope that KWASU would emerge as the foremost Nigerian university to offer degree in Digital Economy.

He, therefore called on the financial institution to invest in the digital economy project of the university towards empowering youths with digital skills as well as strengthening the country's digital space for virile economy.
Prof. Akanbi also solicited support of UBA for the institution's Smart City project, Green Campus lnitiative and its business investments, among others.


On the Green lnitiative, the Vice Chancellor who said his administration is passionate about environmental sustainability, said measures are being put in place to achieve friendly eco-system on campus.
While commending the UBA  for its good customers service, Prof. Akanbi urged the bank to expand scope of its Corporate Social Responsibility so as  to build people's confidence in banking. 

In his remarks,  leader of the team and the Divisional Head North Central States, UBA, Mr. Ogba Eke commended KWASU for digitalising learning in line with global trend.
He noted that the bank as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, empowers youths through the Tony Elumelu Foundation and also give research grants, which could be accessed by academic staff of the University.

Mr. Eke then pledged support of the financial institution towards the entrepreneurship drive and the digitalised learning of KWASU.
Mr. Eke, had in his entourage, the Regional Head Kwara State, Mr. Jimoh Mufutau and Branch Manager (Ag), Mrs. Abiodun Motunrayo.
