Kwara Central Senator, Oloriegbe Bags NMA Meritorious Service Award

The Senator representing Kwara Central, Dr Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe has been honoured with the Meritorious Service Award by Nigerian Medical Association, (NMA).

The award was bestowed on the lawmaker at the "65th Annual General Conference/Delegates Meeting (AGC/ADM) of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA)" convened and ongoing at Port Harcourt, Rivers State, in recognition of his legislative activities toward the development of the Nigerian Health Sector and the Nigerian Medical Association.

The lawmaker was said to have evinced a deep commitment to ensuring the initiation and the promotion of relevant legislation for the development of the health sector to strengthen healthcare delivery in the country.

The Senator received the honour through the former Secretary-General of the Association, Dr Is'haq Abdul, and the incumbent Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, Kwara State Chapter, who is doubled as the Medical Director of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Budo-egba, Prof Baba Issa, appreciated the association for considering him worthy of such esteemed recognition, dedicating the award to his constituents whom he described as the inspiring enablers for his outstanding activities.

Dr Abdul said the commitment of the lawmaker to the improvement of the health sector is propelled by the zeal to promote the well-being of the people, saying that it is one of the cardinal sectors whose successful reform will shape the direction and pace of national economic growth and development.

While applauding the association, Dr Abdul reiterated the resolve of the Senator to continue to enact more effective legislation for the betterment of the country and implore the medical personnel not to rest on their laurels in improving the overall health and well-being of Nigerians.
