Lagos Assembly Passes Bill On DNA, Forensic Centre

The Lagos State House of Assembly has passed a bill establishing the Lagos State Deoxyribo-Nucleic Acid and Forensic center.

9japarrot Media learned that the bill is aimed to support criminal investigations, law enforcement, preservation of evidence for the judicial system, and other connected purposes.

In a statement on Monday, Eromosele Ebhomele, the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa, said that the bill scaled the third reading at plenary with all lawmakers in attendance giving their approvals.

One of the objectives of the center includes the use and regulation of DNA-based technology in the state to carry out profiling or analysis.
