Major Setbacks For APC, PDP As Hundreds Of Members Defect To ADC In Kwara

The ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have suffered another setback after hundreds of their loyalists dumped the parties for Action Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ekiti Local Government area of Kwara State.

The decampees were officially received by the ADC state Assembly Candidate for Ekiti State Constituency, Hon. Stephen Ariyo Odeyemi.

Also on the ground is ADC House of Reps Candidate, Hon Kunle Afolaogun.

The event was held at Grace Nursery and Primary School, Beside Elepe Palace, Epe-Opin in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The decampees cut across two major wards which are Opin and Oke-Opin and Etan Wards.

Leader of the decampees and representative of Farmers in Ekiti LG, said, the youths from APC and other political parties decided to join ADC due to its efforts in the development of the country.

“We decided to dump our political parties PDP, APC and join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with aims to contribute our quota towards nation building as only ADC is the only alternative to give more chances to youths at both local, state and federal government levels”, he said.

We've suffered a lot from the current Leadership that is why we are here to join this party because we believed that is the only alternative for our interests to be protected. He added

Speaking shortly after he received the decampees, the ADC Candidate for Ekiti State Constituency, Hon. Stephen Ariyo Odeyemi said the decampees would be treated as any member of the party. 

" I was told that they're threatening people in Ekiti LG for supporting ADC, don't let anybody Intimidate you because you have the right to support anyone and it's backed by the Nigerian law" He added.

On his part, ADC House of Reps Candidate, Hon Ekundayo Afolaogun assures decampees that ADC has a gubernatorial candidate and as well other portfolios, because many are saying we don't have, he said.

I have been in active politics for years now, and I'm assuring you all that our party will bring you the changes you are craving. 

If you elect us, we shall bring to you dividends of democracy, youth, and human capital developments, He added.

It was a colorful occasion as hundreds of people were seen dancing and chanting ADC, Arise, and Shine with party flyers in their hands.
