Kano Govt Bans Commercial Tricycle Operators On Major Roads



The Kano state government has banned the movement of commercial tricycles, popularly known as Adaidaita-sahu, on some of the major roads in the state.

The Kano state government, through, Kano Road and Traffic Agency, KAROTA stated that the restriction will take effect from Wednesday, 30th of November, 2022.

The announcement which was made in a statement by Nabulusi Abubakar, KAROTA’s Public Relations Officer noted that the riders are banned from roving Ahmadu Bello Way by Mundubawa Road to Gezawa and Tal’udu road to Gwarzo.

According to the statement, the government took the action after providing 100 ultra-modern buses and 50 taxis that would be conveying passengers on the roads that are prohibited for the tricycle operators.

The government stated that it had provided the buses in order to enhance transportation in the state as well as to make it easier for people to follow these routes.

According to the statement, the government would also announce when tricycle operators will stop using other major roads in the state once it provides more ultra-modern buses and taxis to ease traffic congestion in Kano city.
