The Hausa community in the Zango area of Ilorin-South has thrown its weight behind the Young Progressives Party (YPP) governorship candidate Waziri Yakubu Gobir (the Wazirin Hausa and Madawaki of Ilorin) for the March 11 governorship election.
The community unanimously endorsed Gobir during his visit to the community in continuation of his campaign across the wards of the state to canvass for votes ahead of the general election.
The Waziri Kasar Hausa, as a respecter of the traditional institute during the visit to the community, paid homage to the Shugaban Hausawa (Serikin Hausawa) of Kwara State, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Abba-Nura to seek Royal blessing and support.
According to Gobir; "I am not a stranger to your community, neither am I unaware of the challenges plaguing residents of our dear community. From inaccessible water supply, epileptic power supply, and zero health care system. I want to assure you that I will make the Zango community more habitable once elected."
“I am a unifying agent, a true Nigerian; take me for my words, that if elected as governor I will promote peaceful coexistence among all the residents. You should not make any mistake, cast your votes for YPP,” he stated.
He also reiterated that he would not neglect the Hausa/Fulani community in Kwara. Waziri promised that his government will be for the common man and that his policies favourable to all as he will run an inclusive government.
In response, Serkin Hausawa stated; "We have heard a lot about you; you are people-oriented, supportive, and conscious of the well-being of Kwarans. Also, you are a man with a large heart who has the interest and welfare of the Hausa community as a priority. So we the northern community want you to acknowledge our 100 per cent support as it’s like a culture among the Hausa communities.
Later in the day, Aláà nú Mẹ̀kúnnù met with the council of Imams and Hulamaah in the community and party stakeholders, before he proceeded to address the elated crowd converged on the field of the popular Kulende market.
The people vowed to vote massively for the YPP party and its candidates to benefit from his government if elected as governor, pointing out that the four years of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq under the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has been a disaster to them.
According to them, the APC-led administration failed to recognize the enormous contribution the Hausa community made during Otoge which brought Governor Abdulrazaq into office.
The Chairman of the Hausa Community in Ilorin-South, Alhaji Abdullahi Chindo said the development strides and the philanthropic gestures of Alhaji Gobir were heartwarming and worthy of emulation by any good leader.
