Appeal Court Upholds Adeleke As Osun Governor

The Judgement of the election tribunal in Osun State against Ademola Adeleke as governor of Osun state has been set aside by the appeal court in a Judgement delivered by Justice Mohammed Shuaibu.

After the state's governorship elections, an election petition tribunal removed Adeleke from office because the senator had not received a majority of valid votes in the July 16 governorship elections.

The Court of Appeal, a three-member panel presided over by Justice Mohammed Shuaibu, overturned the tribunal's decision in unanimity and ruled that Adeleke is the legitimate governor of Osun State.

The Appeal Court Panel overturned the tribunal's ruling directing the withdrawal of Adeleke's certificate of return and the issuance of Oyetola's instead.

The panel upheld the BVAS allegation made against Oyetola, ruling that the Osun State tribunal erred in asserting that there was excessive voting. 

This claim was based only on the facts presented by Oyetola and the APC, and as such, it does not in any way support their position.
