Ita Merin/Alatonto Residents Applauds Oloriegbe Over Erosion Control Project

The residents of Ita Merin/Alatonto and Abata Oloduku community in Ajikobi ward, Ilorin West Local government have applauded the Senator representing their constituency at the National Assembly, Dr. Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe over the relief brought to them by the erosion control project he facilitated to the community.

The joyous crowd trouped out early today to appreciate the lawmaker who was on an on-the-spot inspection of the job done by the contractor handling the project. Recall that the project worths the sum of One Hundred Million Naira (N100M) was facilitated by the lawmaker as a capital project under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to bring a definite end to the hardship facing by the community as a result of perennial erosion and flooding which has rendered score of people homeless.

The lawmaker expressed satisfaction with the quality of the job done by the contractor while reiterating his resolve to facilitating more developmental projects to the communities under his constituency and expresses his commitment to ensuring the outright completion of the ongoing ones. 

According to him, "the idea of the project is to arrest flooding and gully erosion ravaging the community and mitigate its impacts on socio-economic activities of the community. When I visited this place during the campaign period, it was part of our promises to address this problem and it indeed brought relief to me personally that I can come back here to tell the community that I have done what I promised them."

The ecstatic residents of the community commended the Senator's timely intervention to stem the menace of flooding and erosion, describing him as a responsive representative that is sensitive to the needs of his constituents.

The President of Ajikobi Central Ward Development Association, Alh. Toyin Abojumeji, while speaking on behalf of the community expressed appreciation to Sen. Oloriegbe and gave credence to the satisfactory job done by the contractor that handled the project. He however appeals to the lawmaker to help the community link the road to the nearby Oloje community as well as repairing the dilapidating section of the flood control done by the previous administration from the Abata Oloduku axis whilst appealing to him to help to facilitate a Senior Secondary School to the community.

Senator Oloriegbe while responding to the request explained that linking the road to another one was not part of the initial design for the project but will influence the State government to address it amongst other requests tabled before him.
