Hajia Maimunat Oloriegbe Doles Out Scholarship To Indigent Pupils In Kwara

The Wife of the Senator representing Kwara Central, Hajia Maimunat Oloriegbe has through her charitable foundation, Matta Girls Foundation awarded scholarships to no fewer than 30 pupils proceeding to Junior Secondary Schools.

The scholarship came against the backdrop of the talent showcased by the pupils in the recent culture and heritage competition, sponsored by her Foundation to restore the dying heritage of the Ilorin Emirate Community in which the pupils were rewarded with material gifts to encourage and reinforce them to imbibing the moral values embedded therein.

This symbolic gesture was announced at a program held on Saturday at Bishop Smith LGEA School, Ilorin, where the pupils yet again in an eye-catching manner entertained the audience with cultural activities which had shown them to the limelight.

To strike balance in the selection of the beneficiaries, six pupils were taken from four local government areas of Kwara Central which her husband is representing at the National Assembly with additional six chosen based on special considerations.

Speaking at the event, Hajia Oloriegbe averred that qualitative education will enhance the pupils' aptitude for reasoning and rational thinking which, in turn, strengthen their talents.

"I am proud of you all and feel elated at the prospect of seeing you attaining greatness, you are my children, and as such, I prioritize all that would make you better citizens and good ambassadors of our community and the state as a whole.

"I wouldn't want you to concentrate your attention solely on cultural activities, but as well give significance to education through only which you can attain any height you crave.

"The idea of this scholarship stems from my desire to develop your critical and logical thinking abilities, as this, will give you the knack of making excellent decisions when you become adults.

The scholarship was however complemented with instructional materials; such as bags, books, school uniforms, sandals among others to aid readiness for learning and as well make it effective.

The scholarship will cover Junior Secondary Education and beneficiaries would by the end of every term be supported with instructional materials.

The event had in attendance the representative from the State Education Ministry, the Educational Secretaries from the four local government areas,  president of ANCOPPS, president of schools Headmasters in the State, Principals of the pupils designated school, parents and other stakeholders.
