The Elesie of Esie, Oba Yakub Agboola Babalola Ibrahim, Egunjobi II has lauded the efforts of the Senator representing Kwara South, Oyelola Ashiru on the establishment of the proposed University of History, Archaeology and Education to be sited in Esie, Kwara State.

Following the sponsoring of a bill by Sen Ashiru, the proposed university is now at the public hearing stage in the senate. When finally passed into law as an act of Parliament, the university would be the first of its kind in the country.

It is in this vein that the high ranking monarch of Esie kingdom issued a statement on Friday where he showered praises on Sen. Ashiru for taking the establishment of the university as a personal project which is now coming to fruition.

The statement read, "His patriotic efforts would remain in our hearts for ages to come, the Esie museum is the first in the country and siting what will be the first University of History and Archaeology in Nigeria here is surely not a misinformed move.

"This is representation at its best, and the people of Esie are grateful for Ashiru's commitment to see this to realisation, it's been a long time coming."

Elder Olayide Adeniran, the national president, Omo Ibile Esie, the community's premier socio-cultural group, lauded the thinking behind the establishment of the university as one born out of genuine love for one's people and country.

He added that the singular action of locating the university in Esie would stir the local economy and bring increased developments to the ancient town of the globally reputed stone images.

Also contacted was Hon. Olayemi Olabanji, the Otun Asiwaju of Esie who told the reporter that the people of Esie can't wait to show their top notch hospitality to the university as hosts, while adding that the people will treat it as a baby of theirs and a national treasure to nurture.

The public hearing which will hold on the 6th of October will have in attendance the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, while it would be chaired by the Chairman, committee on tertiary institutions and Tetfund, Ahmed Baba Kaita.
