2023: SDP Flags-off Campaign In Kwara South, Vows To Wrest Power From Ruling Party

Leaders and members of the Social Democratic Party  (SDP) in the southern part of Kwara state, on Monday kick start another political journey at the Open Field Opposite Ajase-Ipo Primary Healthcare Centre Ajase-Ipo Irepodun Local Government Area Kwara South.

The event tagged: Kwara South Rescue Mission doubled as an avenue to officially flag off the campaign for all the 2023 Kwara South SDP Candidates.

The flag-off led by the Kwara South SDP Senatorial candidate, Prof. Wale Sulaiman CON witnessed large numbers of supporters from across the 7 Local Government Areas that made up the district.

During the event, candidates make a strong statement about their commitment, determination, and zeal to provide enviable political leadership to the people and rescue the region from the bad leadership it has been experiencing over the years.



The colorful political event covered live by 9japarrot Media witnessed a large number of supporters seen brandishing placards with inscriptions such as, “Prof Wale Sulaiman CON”, “Asiwaju Ewe'’, "Ifokanbale" "Wale will do it very well”, “Hakeem Lawal is our Governor”, they were also seen chanting Gba lò wé ko moló in Yoruba, among others.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, the Kwara SDP gubernatorial candidate, Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal, who was highly elated with the massive turnout of the party’s members at the rally, said that “seen the massive turnout from our members today is an attestation that the people of Kwara South has heard our message loud and clear, and they have resolved to send away and vote out bad leaders come 2023 general election. 

“I want to tell you that this forthcoming general election in Kwara state is not about me or any other candidates in the election, but about bringing back our dear state, Kwara to the path of glory and prosperity".

“We are not considering stepping down or forming an alliance with anyone because we know we have you the people and GOD, and we also have all it takes to bring dividends of democracy to Kwarans and for that, we must all come out with our permanent voter's cards, canvass and come out enmasse during the polls to vote for all the SDP candidates during the elections.”
 
Lawal added that his administration will be people-centered and he will focus more on Infrastructural development, Industrialization, youth, and human capital development.



In his remark, the Kwara South SDP Senatorial candidate, Prof Wale Sulaiman CON said that if elected as Senator, he will facilitate more Infrastructural development, increase revenue, create job opportunities, and sponsor bills that will improve the health sector of the region.

He added that he has all it takes to add value to the socioeconomic growth of the region if voted into office come 2023.

Also speaking at the event, are the SDP House of representative candidates for Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-ero federal Constituency, Prince Popoola Adekeye Saheed and Oyun/Offa/Ifelodun federal Constituency, Zubairu Abdulganiyu Olalekan told the mammoth crowd that the forthcoming general election is about electing purposeful leaders who have the interests of the region and the state at heart.



Popoola said that the leadership of today is the mistake made yesterday and we're here to right the wrong now. Hon. Zubairu added that the only good the region can do for herself is to ensure that all SDP candidates are elected come 2023 for the betterment of Kwara.

Also, all the SDP candidates for the Kwara State House of assembly made their contributions, urging supporters to canvass and mobilize for all SDP candidates ahead of the forthcoming election.

On his part, SDP party Chieftain, Chief Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo called on supporters to avoid making costly mistakes again, he added that the mistakes of yesterday are what is hunting the region and the state today.



"Among all the Governors we've had in Kwara State, only Mohammed Alabi Lawal of the blessed memory has done enough for us. Even our supposed son, Abdulfatah Ahmed proved to us like he's not part of us with his uninspiring performance."

He added that the current administration is not anyway better and doesn't deserve the people's mandate & support again. 

Akogun urged the members of the party to move out enmasse and mobilize more voters for the party during the elections.

SDP State Party Chairman, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Afolabi,   said that individual profiles of all candidates, antecedents, and track records are enough reasons for Kwarans to vote for the party massively comes 2023.




He advised the party members to go inward and mobilize for votes to ensure a landslide victory for the party in the region and the state.

The Chairman, while receiving campaign cars donated to all the 7 seven Local Government Areas that made up the Kwara south senatorial district used the occasion to laud the contributions of Prof. Wale Sulaiman CON to Kwara South even outside politics and his global contributions to the health sector globally.
 


He also enjoined the members of the party to vote enmasse for them during the 2023 polls.

During the event, the Social Democratic Party, (SDP), Kwara South Senatorial Candidate; Professor Wale Sulaiman (CON) who led the official campaign flag also joined other party stalwarts to unveil a book titled Kwara South 2023 Restoration Agenda.



With the flag off of SDP’s campaign ahead of the election, a stage is now set for the battle of titans in Kwara South and the state at large. 

The SDP has vowed to relinquish power from the incumbents in order to add value to the socioeconomic growth of the state.
